Some time the motorways come to an end. We left Inverness, Black Isle, and Dornoch Firth at the eastern coast behind us.
Now we go inland.
We
are going up country now.
At the tidy resting place at
Bonar Bridge we have a break.
Behind Lairg begins a long single-track road.
The rules are simple: The one reaching the passing place first stops and clears space for the oncoming traffic. The passer-by hand-signals his thanks.
The weather worsens but the more awesome are the mountains.
We can’t get our fill watching the mountaintops hiding in clouds..

Its always a fascinating moment when the clouds cover the top of the Bens.
Ben Klibreck ahead!
More and more rain and when approaching Altnaharra, we refrain from further stopovers.
Suddenly however, when driving towards Kyle of Tongue, there’s bright sunshine again.
The old Scottish saying that every Glen got a new weather still applies.
In the distance Castle Varrich welcomes us high above the Kyle of Tongue.
Now only the long bridge over the Kyle of Tongue lies ahead of us.
To the right, we pass Melness and Skinnet..
There we are, reaching our first travel destination:Talmine.
