Edinburgh

- Make Poverty History -

Quite soon we reach Felison Quay near Amsterdam. The weather is incredibly good and we start another visit to Great Britain at 18.00 h

It is always a good idea to visit the Seven-Seas Restaurant for a last continental dinner.

After reaching the first destination - Newcastle - we visit Alnwick Castle. This is the castle where a part of the Harry Potter film was taken.

After enjoying a few extra trips through unknown streets we finally reach Sucalan in Edinburgh for Bed and Breakfast. Sometimes life is funny because Mr Song, the owner of this house and me have something in common. He went to school with Barney, the son of the bishop of Perth, whom I met years ago at Loch Rannoch on my first trip to Scotland.

We meet many people in the streets protesting against the G8-Meeting to be held in this town. We see thousands of signs saying: Make Poverty History.

Shopping at Princess Street is always a good idea. Lots of small shops offer different kind of goods and merchandize.

It takes a whole day to have a look in every shop at the Royal Mile.

It is not easy to find a place for having a meal since all restaurants are overcrowded.

Of course we do a shopping-tour  through the centre. Everywhere police is to be seen.

Near Edinburgh Castle we notice that a large platform is going to be installed. It looks like a theatre.

A few days later we find out that this is the place of the presentation for the 6th book of Harry Potter.
